Tip of the Day – Work with their quirks

Okay, let’s get this out of the way. This is a super weird expression! Why is Benji’s mouth all twisted up like that? What’s going on with his lips? Is he barking, or …? This was the source of much hilarity when we realised, but Benji’s weird expression here was due to him running along and munching on grass at the same time. He’d been enjoying the long grass, helping himself to the “salad bar”, when we called him into action.

Multi-talented boy he is, he obligingly chased the toy, while finishing off his grassy snack. What a funny lad!

Dogs are just strange sometimes, and rather than trying to get him NOT to eat that tasty grass, we moved to an area of the park with shorter (potentially less tastier?) grass so it wasn’t so distracting for him.

I guess the moral of the story is, if your doggy model is not co-operating, sometimes it’s just easier to move on to something different! (And don’t worry – he was well fed with delicious roast chicken treats later on during the session. Much better than grass!)
